DRMC 2 – Als

DRMC 2 – Als
Last weekend I drove the second leg of the Danish Championship. This leg was in Als on Sønderborg Racing Center.

This track was the only track on the calendar that we didn’t have any data on. So it was looking tough.

We were a little off the pace at the start of the Friday practice, as we needed to learn the track and find the right setup. We did find the right setup, and by pushing the limits we also found some decent pace.

The whole grid was extremely close. The whole weekend we were about 0.3-4 seconds from number 1.

Heat 1: P13/19
Heat 2: P8/18
Heat 3: P16/18
In heat 3 I got a perfect start, gaining some positions. I was up into P6 but got pushed off the track by a dirty driver, who also got penalized after the heat.
Pre-final: P27/34
This was caused by a bad starting position due to the DNF in Heat 3. The front drivers didn’t line up how they should, which resulted in the last 20 drivers getting a horrible start as we couldn’t line up before the green lights.
Final: P19/34
Started P26 and had a great pace. I gained some positions due to some great pace and overtakes.

So all in all, an acceptable result. We will push even further to get to the very top. Thank you to all of my sponsors for making it possible for me to live out my dream.

A special thanks to myrholm.dk for sponsoring a place to stay during our time in Als.

The first leg of the Zealand Championship was in the past weekend. It was a very chaotic and stressful weekend with a lot of ups and downs. On Friday we were practicing for the weekend, to see where our pace was. We were very close to the front drivers and had the fastest lap of one of the practice sessions. So we were so happy. We knew that we had to drive at our top level to keep up with the top drivers. So we were extremely excited for Sunday, as we knew our pace was very promising.

However, on Sunday it started pouring down with rain. The only thing that we knew could ruin our chances at the very top. So as the rain started pouring down, were we a little skeptical of where our pace would be in the wet conditions.

We just came from a weekend in Ikast, which also was dominated hardly by rain. In Ikast our pace in the wet condition was very off, and therefore our hopes for a place at the top was suddenly very far away.

However, in the qualifying, we showed that our pace wasn’t as much off as we thought. We were much better in the rain than expected. We qualified 13/24

In the prefinal, I ended up crashing out as the person in front of me was on very poor tires. He therefore braked in turn 1 where it’s normal to have a little throttle on in the wets. Because I was so close to him, I couldn’t avoid hitting him. That meant a DNF and a starting position in last place for the final.

At this point, everything was pretty annoying. It didn’t go our way. The track got one dry line for the final, which meant that everyone changed to a dry setup. In the final every little mistake would lead to a DNF, as there only was that one dry line. Everything else was like skating on ice.

My concentration level in that heat was very high. I knew I started last, so I had to gain a lot of positions. I ended up avoiding two major crashes just before they hit me. With a lot of crashes and some good overtakes, I ended in 7. place out of 24.

So all in all a good result for a chaotic weekend💪

DRMC 1 – Ikast

DRMC 1 – Ikast

The race season has finally started!
The first race weekend was in Ikast competing in the first race weekend in the Danish Championship.
We knew as a team that this was gonna be a tough weekend, as we will meet the best Danish drivers. Besides that point, this weekend will also be the first race weekend in the Danish championship as a team Eshington Racing.
We also knew, that if it was going to rain we were gonna be too much of the pace. We knew rain was our weak point, so we hoped for a dry weekend.
Unfortunately, 90% of the weekend was in wet conditions. That’s also one of the biggest factors in why the weekend was tricky.
On Saturday, we drove qualification and one heat. Saturday was wet all day. We qualified 37. and 38. In the race heat later that day, I ended up gaining 4 places, and my teammate Lau ended up gaining about 5 places.
We thought Sunday was gonna be dry. Unfortunately, the weather changed last second, and both warm-up and my heat were in wet conditions again. I once again gained 4 places, but we needed better results to be completely satisfied with the weekend. I had to drive the second-chance heat, in which the top 6 out of 10 drivers would get to the A final, and the last 4 in a B final.
I started in 5. place and my teammate Lau started in 7. place. For this race, we put on dry tires for the first time in these weekend races. There was only one dry line on the track. Everything else besides that one line was wet. So we needed to be precise.
I pushed too hard hitting the wet part and slid into the gravel. I got going again and pushed to the finish. My teammate and I finished in 5. and 6. So we got into the A final.
It was dry in both the pre-final and final. I made up some places and started 30. out of 34 in the A final. I ended the final in 26. place. So all in all I ended number 26 out of 38. I’m pretty satisfied with the result when we take the weather into count. So now, we need to practice some wet racing and prepare for the next race week for the 1. leg of the Zealand Championship in Copenhagen.

Første runde af SM er på søndag.

(DK)

We have now finished all of our practice driving for this upcoming race on Sunday. Everything can happen. As it looks right now, the field will be extremely close. On this last practice day, the field was so close to each other, even in practice. Therefore we expect the whole top 15 drivers, will be 0.7 seconds within the fastest driver. We are currently missing 0.3 seconds to the fastest driver. So we do have a lot of pace and potential to finish high on sunday. Therefore it’s important to have gear and a kart that performs excellently. That wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic sponsors. We are looking forward to an amazing Sunday with a lot of good racing, and hope for the best.

Do you want to sponsor a young talent? Then contact us on mail (info@dyrvedracing.dk) or phone (+45 40 60 53 18) for a talk. Besides that, you are more than welcome to come visit us at the track, either on race days or practice days.
